NanoBioTer® Barrier Additives

What is NanoBioTer® for barrier applications?
Surface-modified nanoclay additives based on a selection of layered minerals (phillosilicates) and food contact approved surface modification systems.  These products are specifically designed to create a barrier for migrants, such as oxygen, water vapour, oils etc. The barrier additives can be adapted to most polymer systems. 

How does it work?
As a simplified explanation, NanoBioTer®  additives are dispersed within a polymer system and create a more tortuous path for any migrant thereby increasing the barrier properties of the polymer. 

Focus Applications:      Packaging (Food, cosmetics, medical)
Objective:                     Increased product protection and shelf-life

Main polymer systems:

• Coatings (Casting, extrusion coating, lamination)
• Transparent packaging materials

These NanoBioTer® barrier additives are currently being developed and tested for many other applications and resins (such as Polyolefins (PP, PE), PLA, PS, PU, TPE, PET etc), so please contact us for specific interest in additives for these materials.
